How to find the Cambridge Hackspace

First, find the Somerville Marketbasket at 400 Somerville Ave, Somerville, MA 02143 USA

Here is the view from the street looking at Market Basket. On the right is the historic Milk Row cemetery and the Cambridge Hackspace is in the building behind the cemetery.

If you go forwards with the cemetery on your right and turn right at the corner of the building behind it then you will see this unnamed alley.

Follow the wall on the right, and skip the door in the middle of the wall since it goes upstairs. Just before the end of the building there is a white door with three steps with 438R/440R painted on it in blue letters.

There are three granite steps up to the door. There is a doorbell labeled Cambridge Hackspace located on the left side of the door frame approximately 30cm (1 foot) above the doorknob. It glows orange so it's easier to find at night. Press the doorbell and please wait for someone to come open the door.

Sometimes our neighbors leave the door open, so please ring the doorbell anyway and step inside. Once you are inside the building proceed right to get to the hallway. In the hallway there are two bathrooms and a utility closet along the right wall, and then stairs leading to the recording studio in the basement. We are directly at the end of the hall, with a slight right to get to the door.

FAQ

Why are your directions so long?

Many people have become lost while trying to find our door, and sometimes people circle the building multiple times before giving up. Somehow the unnamed alley behind our building is like the Bermuda triangle for people on foot.
